The average person simply prefers whatever computer they used first, or the one they learned how to use at work. In fact there are a lot of people out there who couldn’t explain-accurately-the difference beyond the facts that 1) Macs are generally more expensive than a PC, and 2) PCs have a much bigger market share.īoth statements are true, but that’s not all there is to it, and that’s not a reason to choose one over the other. So, what’s the answer? What? You don’t know!ĭon’t feel like a loser if you’re not even sure what the simple differences are between a Mac and a PC. PCs give you more for your money.Īnd quite honestly, both sides have good points to stand on.

Fifteen years ago, the differences were pretty simple, and users were mostly in one of two camps: In most cases, the answer to that question is going to depend on whom you’re talking to, what they do for a living, or even how old they are. From the beginning, there were lines drawn. And even if you think your mind is already made up, this overview might make you look at the discussion in a new light. Instead, we’ll leave that to all your friends, who I guarantee will have their own strong opinions on the matter. This three-part overview won’t argue one side or the other as far as which is better-or even better for you, which is what really matters. You would be surprised how many don’t know the difference, at least well enough to explain it to someone. At the very least, you should know what the main differences are between a PC and a Mac. If you’ve only been on one side of the computer fence most of your life-that is, you’ve only used a Mac or (more likely) only used a PC-then maybe it’s time you opened your mind to exploring the other side.
